DEHN showcases comprehensive protection solutions for safety systems at security 2014 in Essen
From 23 to 26 September 2014, DEHN will present protection solutions for safety and security systems at the international leading trade show for security and fire safety held in Essen (hall 1.0, booth 314). The company protects the highly complex building and system technology including safety systems installed such as fire alarm systems, voice alarm systems, CCTV systems and emergency lighting systems. To this end, d.c. surge arresters such as DEHNguard® SE DC and DEHNsecure are available which protect different battery-operated supply systems in case of lightning effects and surges. DEHN offers comprehensive system protection ranging from external lightning protection including air- termination systems and down conductors, earth-termination systems and equipotential bonding as well as surge protection for all installations and supply systems.
The new DEHNsecure and DEHNguard® SE DC surge protective devices safely protect d.c. applications from lightning effects and surges. Moreover, DEHNsecure allows to implement a comprehensive lightning protection zone concept including the cross- boundary d.c. lines. The inner structure of the DEHNsecure spark gap is ideally suited for use in d.c. circuits. This spark gap technology prevents d.c. mains follow currents.
The d.c. switching device DCD of the modular DEHNguard® SE DC type 2 surge arrester is designed in such a way that the protective device is safely disconnected in case of overload, thus preventing d.c. switching arcs and fire damage. The arrester can be used without additional backup fuse in case of direct currents up to 300 A. DEHNguard® SE DC and DEHNsecure are ideally suited for use in safety lighting systems, emergency power supply systems as well as d.c. systems for direct supply of d.c. drives, control circuits and any kind of battery-operated supply systems.
The DEHNguard® SE H LI surge arrester can be used for all installations which require maximum reliability and availability. The Lifetime Indication function integrated in the surge arrester is an intelligent early warning system which informs the user in good time that a surge protective device is faulty. Thanks to its discharge capacity of 65 kA (8/20 μs), DEHNguard® SE H LI meets the increasing availability and safety requirements of electrical systems in the industrial and commercial sector.
The new DEHNcord type 2 surge arrester can be easily integrated in installation systems such as terminal compartments of terminal equipment, cable ducts as well as flush-mounted systems and reliably protects e.g. outdoor LED lights from surges caused by lightning effects. Thanks to its compact design, the device can be particularly used where the performance of a type 3 surge protective device for terminal equipment reaches its limits. DEHNcord ensures proper installation of surge protective devices in conformity with the standard wherever space is restricted. Since according to the standard DEHNcord is a type 2 surge arrester, it can be used at the zone transition from 0B to 1 or higher.
